Gating your best ideas used to feel “smart.” Now it mostly feels like friction. Jason Wright and George close out this run with a simple shift that’s changing modern marketing and audience building: teach first, sell second. We walk through why the most generous businesses are winning attention right now, and why giving away real value isn’t a threat, it’s the proof that you know what you’re doing.

We dig into the fear almost every founder has: “If I share the good stuff for free, why would anyone pay me?” The answer is brutally practical. Information is cheap and everywhere. Implementation is hard. People don’t just need the what, they need the time, the confidence, and the expertise in the moment to actually execute. That’s why free teaching builds trust without killing revenue. It makes the sales conversation feel like problem-solving instead of persuasion, because the teaching already did the selling long before the call.

We also lay out the new funnel: teach the what and the why publicly, then get paid for the how, the done-for-you build, and the done-with-you support. If you’re considering paid ads, we share a quick way to avoid expensive mistakes by checking whether your business is truly ready to spend money on traffic.

If this clicks for you, subscribe for more practical strategy, share this with a friend who’s still hiding their best ideas, and leave a review so more builders can find the show. What’s one thing you could teach for free this week?

If this sparked ideas for your brand or business, subscribe for more deep dives, share the show with a founder who needs focus, and leave a quick review to help others find it. Welcome And The Big Shift

SPEAKER_00

What's happening, everyone? Jason Wright here. George is here with me, as you may have guessed.

SPEAKER_01

Hey everyone.

SPEAKER_00

I want to close this run with a shift in how the best businesses are winning attention right

Teach First To Win Trust

SPEAKER_00

now. Teach first, sell second.

SPEAKER_01

That sounds simple, but I'm guessing most people do it backwards.

SPEAKER_00

Most people do it completely backwards. The old way was lock up your best information, make people pay, or at least hand over their email before you give them anything good. Gate everything. The new way is the opposite. Give your best stuff away freely, then let the trust do the selling.

Why Free Teaching Works

SPEAKER_01

That feels scary though. If you give away your best material, why would anyone pay you?

SPEAKER_00

That's the fear everybody has, and it's wrong. Here's why. Knowing what to do and actually doing it are two completely different things. I can tell you exactly how to build an automation step by step for free. Most people still won't do it. They'll read it, nod, and hire me anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Because the information isn't the bottleneck.

SPEAKER_00

The information was never the bottleneck. Implementation is, time is. Expertise in the moment is. So giving away the what costs me nothing, and it builds enormous trust because now people know I actually know my stuff.

SPEAKER_01

So the free teaching is the proof?

SPEAKER_00

The free teaching is the proof. In a world where everybody claims to be an expert, actually teaching something useful for free is how you prove you're the real deal. Anybody can say they're good. Teaching something valuable shows it.

SPEAKER_01

Is this part of why the gated PDF died, like we talked about?

SPEAKER_00

Same exact thread. People are tired of being asked to pay or trade for information that should be free. The businesses building real audiences right now are the generous ones. They teach openly, they help before they ask, and that generosity comes back

How Free Content Makes Money

SPEAKER_00

around.

SPEAKER_01

So how does someone actually make money if they're giving it all away?

SPEAKER_00

You teach the what and the why for free. People pay you for the how, the done for you, and the done with you. I'll tell anyone what needs to happen and why it matters. When they want it actually built, handled, and maintained, that's the paid relationship. The free content earns the right to that conversation.

SPEAKER_01

So free content fills the top, the paid work happens after the trust is built.

SPEAKER_00

That's the whole funnel now. Teach first, build trust, and the sale becomes a natural next step instead of a pitch. By the time someone reaches out, they already trust you because you've been helping them for free this whole time.

SPEAKER_01

And I imagine that makes the sales conversation way easier.

SPEAKER_00

Night and day. When someone comes to you already trusting you, you're not convincing them of anything. You're just figuring out how to help. The teaching did the selling before you ever got on the call.

SPEAKER_01

So the close is really earned way upstream.

SPEAKER_00

Earned way upstream, one helpful piece at a time. Teach first, sell second. Be the most generous voice your audience hears, and when they're ready to buy, there's really only one person they're thinking of.

SPEAKER_01

This is really worth sitting

Paid Ads Readiness Quiz

SPEAKER_01

with.

SPEAKER_00

Quick one before you go. If you've been thinking about running paid ads, but you're not totally sure your business is ready for them, listen up. Most owners guess wrong on this, and guessing wrong gets expensive fast. Head over to intentionallyinspirational.com, click on free resources in the top menu, and take the paid ads readiness quiz. It takes about 30 seconds. You'll find out if paid ads are actually the right move for you right now, or if there's something worth tightening up first.

Closing Thoughts And Next Steps

Thanks for listening.
